Social media influencers in Limerick have come together to support the ‘Lavery and Osborne: Observing Life’ exhibition which runs at the Hunt Museum throughout the summer until Monday, September 30, by selecting their favourite piece of art from the collection.

Amongst the social influencers who were involved were Richard Lynch, Celia Holman Lee, Meghann Scully, Patrick McLoughney, Leanne Moore and Sinead O’Brien. The six social influencers split into pairs, with each pair selecting a piece of the Lavery and Osborne collection that they admired the most.

Members of the I Love Limerick team were on location at the Hunt Museum to film short promotional videos of the social media influencers speaking in detail about their favourite pieces of the exhibition and why everyone should make sure to visit the exhibition before it departs the museum on Monday, September 30.

Richard Lynch, founder of I Love Limerick, said, “I really wanted to get involved in supporting the exhibition at the Hunt. The Hunt Museum is the cultural gem of Limerick city and so I want everyone in Limerick to visit and support the exhibition, and more importantly the Hunt Museum.”

The ‘Lavery and Osborne: Observing Life’ exhibition features Irish artists, Sir John Lavery and Walter Frederick Osborne. Both born in the mid-nineteenth century, these renowned artists lived parallel lives as Irish painters who travelled overseas to develop their artistic talent. The exhibition places the two artists side by side for the first time. It is said that they never met, but both were offered knighthoods and both were subject to the same artistic influences including that of James McNeill Whistler.

A total of sixty-two pieces are being exhibited and the majority of them are from private collections travelling from the United Kingdom and the United States, with a few from other Irish galleries including the Crawford Art Gallery, Ulster Museum, and Limerick City Gallery of Art.

Richard and Celia previously took part in a photoshoot project called VanGoYourself to promote the ‘Lavery and Osborne: Observing Life’ exhibition. They re-enacted Lavery’s painting, with Starsky, owned by Sinead Hutchison, ‘Stars in Sunlight,’ which depicts Maureen O’Sullivan and Loretta Young relaxing between scenes in Hollywood.

VanGoYourself is a European project which was co-founded by the European Commission to enable and promote the greater re-use by creative industries of cultural heritage resources.

VanGoYourself allows visitors to discover and enjoy art in a whole new way …Visitors to Exhibition can re-enact the painting for themselves. They can become the painting using their own visually creative take on the artist’s work. People visiting the exhibition can recreate an Osborne or Lavery painting, by taking a snap of their version of the painting, uploading it to VanGoYourself, which twins their image with the original artwork for sharing on social media, immortalising their artistic talent for all to see!

Meghann Scully, social media influencer and presenter, said, “This Lavery and Osborne exhibition is amazing and it’s only here until September 30, so whether you are around Limerick city or county, or even further afield, make sure to get here to the Hunt Museum and check it out, as this once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Share your experience at the ‘Lavery and Osborne: Observing life’ exhibition on social media by using the hashtag #vangoyourself and tagging the @huntmuseum.

Good Food Outlet and Leanne Moore of Go Gym Limerick have put together a healthy and delicious ready-made meal. From now until the end of September the Good Food Outlet will be donating one euro to the charity Cliona’s Foundation for every one of the meals sold. Good Food Outlet & Leanne Moore give Cliona’s Foundation food for soul

Fitness guru Leanne Moore is teaming up with the Good Food Outlet to raise vital funds for Limerick-based charity Cliona’s Foundation.

The Good Food Outlet and Leanne Moore have put together a healthy and delicious ready-made Go Gym Fitness meal that will be available to buy exclusively at the Good Food Outlet from now until the end of September. For every one of the Leanne Moore meals sold, the Good Food Outlet will be donating one euro to Cliona’s Foundation. Leanne is an official ambassador for the charity and was recently joined by fellow Cliona’s Foundation ambassador and World Rugby Referee of the Year Joy Neville to launch the meal.

Cliona’s Foundation is a Limerick-based charity that provides financial assistance directly to parents of children with life-limiting or chronic complex care needs across Ireland to help with the non-medical expenses related to caring for their child over a long period of time. The Foundation was set up by Brendan and Terry Ring, following the death of their daughter Cliona, from an inoperable brain tumour in 2006 aged 16.

Leanne Moore is one of Limerick’s brightest stars. After rising to fame on RTÉ’s You’re A Star in 2008, Moore has since cultivated a career in TV, music, and fitness. Along with her popular blog and social media following, Leanne made her business debut with Go Gym Limerick, a one of a kind gym experience located in Coonagh Cross which she launched with her business partners in 2017.

A family-owned business, the Good Food Outlet is a Limerick based food production company employing nine people and founded by Pat and Mary Power. After five years of food production, the Good Food Outlet opened its first retail outlet on the Ballysimon Road one year ago. The Good Food outlet makes healthy food accessible to the people of Limerick and provides food for a number of healthy-living goals. They also have the best selection of healthy fresh meals, high-protein foods, supplements and protein products in Limerick.

Leanne said, “We at Go Gym Limerick are delighted to team up with The Good Food Outlet on this project. Two local businesses coming together to help a local charity. I chose salmon for my meal because I adore fish but it will also be available with chicken so hopefully, it will appeal to everyone. I went for salmon or chicken in a pesto crust with baked sliced baby potatoes and mixed veg. Tasty and super healthy. It’ll be available from The Good Food Outlet and we will hopefully stock some in Go Gym too. People will pay the regular price for the meal and €1 of their money will go straight to Clionas Foundation. It’s amazing.”

Mary and Pat Power, owners of the Good Food Outlet commented, “What I love about Cliona’s Foundation, is that any money raised through fundraising has an impact straight away for a family who are under stress due to the cost of medical expenses. These donations provide immediate relief for these families, and the expenses Cliona’s Foundation provide money for are the things people don’t think of when a child is ill.”

Joy Neville adds,” Cliona’s Foundation receives no state funding. Since its launch, Cliona’s Foundation has raised in excess of €1.4 million and has helped more than 500 families across 29 counties. It is Brendan and Terry’s intimate understanding of the stress brought upon these families that explains the diversity of expenses covered by Cliona’s Foundation – from accommodation, rent, food, car parking, utility bills to transportation for hospital treatment or alternative therapies, to a treat for a sibling and even covering the cost of a child’s funeral.”

“Leanne has been a wonderful supporter for a number of years”, said Brendan Ring, co-founder of Cliona’s Foundation. “We are absolutely delighted and honoured that she, along with the Good Food Outlet have selected Cliona’s Foundation to benefit from this new healthy Go Gym Fitness meal. Funds generated will help us support some of the 18 families we currently have on our waiting list along with increasing our profile to the Good Food Outlet customer base and Leanne’s many followers. It’s Good Food that will be good for everyone involved.”

The group also shot a Public Service Announcement asking the public to get involved in the campaign. The digital influencers involved in the campaign with Celia were Leanne Moore, Louise Cooney, Shauna Lindsay, Patrick McLoughney, Richard Lynch and Sinead O’Brien of Sinead’s Curvy Style.

Speaking at her Get Together Celia said, “I’m delighted to support Irelands Great Get Together for Focus Ireland. I sadly see the heartbreaking impact of homelessness all around me in Limerick every day and it’s a cause that is very close to my heart. I come from a large family and I would hate to think of any of them feeling alone or worried about losing their home. Irelands Great Get Together is all about Home, Family, Friends and Community all of which I strongly believe in and which are key to us all. It’s about bringing people together to help prevent families in your neighbourhood from becoming homeless. It’s a great cause and I urge everyone to get involved”.

Speaking about Celia’s involvement in the campaign Rebecca Reynolds, National Fundraising Initiatives Manager said “Celia is an ambassador of Focus Ireland and we are thrilled to have her support and the support of six of Limericks top Fashion and Digital Influencers whom she invited to take part in her Great Get Together.  They have a collective following of over 250,000 people on Instagram alone, so if that isn’t a Great Get together I don’t know what is! They are all fantastic to lend their support and time voluntarily to Focus Irelands first Great Get Together campaign to help us spread the word. We hope that lots of their fans follow their lead and have their own Get Together. It doesn’t matter how big or how small”.

Celia is now calling on you to support Focus Ireland and host a Get Together of your own. Why not host a fun fashion Get Together with friends swapping clothes, accessories and styling hints and tips! Or have a best-dressed competition at work or your local club!! Whatever you do is up to you – as long as you bring people together to do something you love while helping to raise funds for Focus Ireland’s work to combat and prevent homelessness. #gettogether #focusireland #bordgaisenergy

Last Thursday Mayor Kieran O’Hanlon honoured me with a Mayoral Reception at City Hall with friends and family present as recognition for my work with I Love Limerick. In attendance, Limerick Person of the Year Luke Culhane, style queen Celia Holman Lee, fitness guru Leanne Moore, Senator Maria Byrne, singer Emma Langford, actor Myles Breen, blogger Sharon Tucker, community activist Helen O’Donnell and representatives from various charities and communities.

I was very honoured to be recognised by the city as this city is not only my birthplace, but I could never ever imagine living anywhere else. It’s my home and my life.  I have been doing I Love Limerick for 9 years and I can’t believe it will be a decade next summer!

I have been involved every year in the Limerick Pride Festival since 2008. In 2008, I produced Limerick Pride and made the event a weeklong festival. I wanted it to be integrative and inclusive so I called it I Love Limerick. The theme of that year’s Pride was of Limerick people loving one another and loving our city. When you logged onto ilovelimerick.com it actually took you to LimerickPride.ie. That was the birth of I Love Limerick.

Mayoral Reception

Pictured here with Limerick Person of the Year Luke Culhane who made the Cyberbullying video ‘Create No Hate’ which went viral worldwide. Picture: Dermot Culhane.

It developed into a community website dedicated to reporting and promoting positive news about Limerick people, communities, charities and events. I Love Limerick was set up to help people, to give people a platform that normally wouldn’t have one. I started the project in an effort to counteract the negative press Limerick was getting in the national media at the time; little did I know the adventure I was undertaking. I have been so blessed to meet so many incredible people, to work with so much talent and to given the chance to make a difference and do something positive.

Highlights of the last nine years include interviewing my idol Terry Wogan, doing the last interview ever with the last living Knight of Glin, winning Limerick Person of the Year in 2011 and being part of the success of the many charities and community groups that I do voluntary PR for.

Money and fame don’t motivate me. If they did I would be living in Dublin or I would be still in New York where I lived for over 15 years. The most important thing for me is my family and I could not imagine being apart from them. My parents passed away in the last years and I used to care for them full time. Now I live in a house with my partner Hugo, between my brother and sister homes and all their children and it’s heaven! It’s just what my parents wanted, for us to all be together. The highlight for the Mayoral Reception was that my eight year old niece Lucy and my six year old nephew Ryan were there as it’s something they will remember always.

My thanks to Mayor Kieran O’Hanlon who is so very kind to me and who said, “When I first spoke to Richard, I knew what he was doing for Limerick and that made me happy as Richard does a lot of work for a lot of communities in Limerick and he only puts out positive news because he love’s Limerick and we all love Limerick.”

Picture: Cian Reinhardt/ilovelimerick

I intend to keep working hard. The emotional payback from the work is immeasurable. I don’t care about money. I know I need it to survive so I am doing my best to make a living and also continue volunteering with I Love Limerick. Fortunately, loyal fantastic talent surrounds me since the beginning such as Dolf Patijn, Orla Clancy and Jonathan Baynes. My right arm for the last 4 years has been my videographer, Aisling O’Connor. I am so grateful to everyone who works with us, as you are only as good as the people you work with.

I do love Limerick. It’s been so good to me and the people inspire me every day. All the hard work has been worth it and I would do it all over again. Limerick is really about the people who make up this great city and county. I am Limerick, You are Limerick, We are Limerick. Thank you Limerick, I Love you. Richard x

One of the main charities that I have been supporting for over 6 years is Cliona’s Foundation and it is a cause very close to my heart. Some of my proudest moments have happened in my work with this charity and it’s an amazing feeling to see all the hard work come to fruition and actually have results!

Cliona’s Foundation is a charitable organisation that was founded in 2007 by Terry and Brendan Ring following the death of their daughter Cliona, who died from an inoperable brain tumour. Its aim is to provide financial assistance to families from Ireland who has children undergoing long-term medical treatment for critical illness for non-medical expenses.

At last year’s Annual Celebratory Night, Clionas Foundation celebrated raising one million euro – Richard with Tom Tierney, Chairperson Clionas Foundation, Keith and Lisa Duffy, Keith Duffy Foundation, Terry and Brendan Ring, Cliona’s Foundation. Picture: Dolf Patijn/ilovelimerick

I first met Brendan and Terry over 6 years ago when I Love Limerick visited them at their home to do an interview. Limerick lady Sami Long who was Miss United Nation Europe 2010 at the time came, did the interview with Brendan and Terry. From the moment I met them and heard their story I was so deeply moved and knew I had to help. Everything I do in aid of the charity is in Cliona’s memory and it is a huge honour for me to be involved in her legacy.

Funds raised are not to be used to pay for the child’s actual medical care; rather, donations are made to families for other ‘hidden’ costs, including hotels, restaurants, petrol and other miscellaneous expenses gained by having to travel to hospitals to receive treatment.

Clionas Foundation 10th Annual Celebratory Night

There are currently over one hundred children’s charities operating in Ireland but Cliona’s Foundation is unique in that it focuses completely on non-medical assistance for families who have exhausted all other avenues of assistance. No other national charity in Ireland offers financial support for non-medical costs associated with the illness.

The goal of Cliona’s Foundation is to help families in remaining intact and functional during their crisis and to ensure that the family, friends and neighbours affected by critical or terminal childhood illness are helped and supported and no needs are left unmet for as long as needed.

Cliona’s Foundation takes part in numerous events and fundraisers in order to reach the funds they need to help families such as the Cliona’s Foundation Annual Cycle, the Adare to Survive event and the Cliona’s Foundation Annual Celebratory Night. Cliona’s Foundation started off 2015 by breaking the Marathon Relay Record and has entered the Guinness World Record books.

To date the charity has supported almost 400 families in 28 Counties across the country, raising over One Million Euro!

The Cliona’s Foundation 10th Annual Celebratory Night was held at Bulgaden Castle, Co. Limerick. It was a fantastic night of fun, food and entertainment with a host of great guests and super prizes on offer. The charity has supported 382 families in 28 counties across the country and wanted to Remember, Acknowledge and Celebrate, those that have helped them over the past 9 years.

Many of the previous events special guests returned for this night with Keith Duffy, Miriam O Callaghan, Leanne Moore, Sami Long, Richard Mulcahy and John “The Bull” Hayes all in attendance. It was a very special night and one that will go down in history for the charity. Congrats to all involved.
